Math Counts

Dallin joined the Math Counts team at the Middle School. They practice on Wednesday mornings before school. It takes dedication to go to school at 7:00 in the morning to do math.  They do problems that are kind of abstract and not just what you would see in a math book. He really has enjoyed the Math Counts team and competition.

The first competition was at Northwest College. The mathletes competed against the other schools in the area.  Dallin did really well and placed 3rd in the individual competition.  He also got to do a head to head round but didn't do as well there. 

This weekend the mathletes went to Laramie to compete for the state title.  It sounded like there was a fun trip planned for the kids. They got to stay in a motel for 2 nights.  The top teams and individuals (I think) get to go on to a national competition.  Dallin placed 14th. Pretty good, especially since as a 6th grader it is his first year.  The Middle School team took 3rd overall. 

Good job, Dallin! We are proud of you. Keep working your math muscles, they will take you far in life.
