Fair 2019

Well, Fair Week is over for this year. It was a good fair this year.  Bethany entered her hand-pieced quilt.  Emma entered 6 paintings.  They both did very well.  Emma's oil paintings all got 2nd place ribbons, and her watercolor got a 3rd place. Bethany's quilt got a blue ribbon and an exceptional award.  While we were looking at the fair entries we overheard someone comment that they thought Emma's rose deserved a grand champion best in show award.

We also clogged at the fair 3 days last week.  Tuesday we had a good show. We did Cotton Eyed Joe and that was about as fast as I could move my feet. It was a fun song, but I could only do it a few times without needing a break.  I loved watching Bethany, Joshua and Lydia clog.   It was a successful Fair for the Waite family.

Somersaults

Joshua and Lydia did a gymnastics class in June. Joshua really loved it. They both really progressed and got a lot better.  They enjoyed it so much that they wanted to buy a mat of their own to practice on at home.  They have worked on lots of tricks.  Aaron has enjoyed watching them. He has been trying to do what they are doing. He learned to do a somersault pretty well. It is super cute to watch him do his gymnastics.

4th of July

We celebrated the 4th of July with clogging in Cody on the 3rd.  Bethany, Lydia and Joshua did the parade. I joined them for the performance in the park after. Neil went over to Cody with us and did some errands during the parade.  He was able to park it to the park in time for the performance.  We also had a BBQ at home in the evening. It was a fun day together.

On the 4th Bethany and Lydia did the parade again.  Neil, Matthew, and Dallin met David when he got off work at Walmart. They all went fishing to the Lower Sunshine Reservoir by Metetesee. They didn't catch too many fish. They did get rained on pretty hard. The biggest fish caught was Joshua. He saw some minnows in the water and wanted to go down a rock and see if he could catch some. He started to slide and landed in the lake. Matthew was fishing with his waders on. He heard a splash and looked over to see Joshua floundering in the water. Matthew jumped in to save Joshua. He learned that it isn't very easy to swim with waders on.  Matthew went all the way under once. Neil helped pull Joshua out of the water when Matthew got him close enough.  He also helped Matthew out of the water.  What a tender mercy that Matthew was close and could help save Joshua.

MaryAnne, Lydia, Aaron, and I went to Cody in the evening to play at the park, have a treat and meet the boys in time for the fireworks.  We had a good time at Mentock park until it started to rain. Mentock park has all new playground equipment.  The kids were really enjoying it. After playing we went to Wendy's to get Frostys. It was really busy so we went to Walmart and got ice cream there. We watched the fireworks behind Walmart. It was a good show. I think it was the first time we had taken Aaron to see fireworks.  Powell hasn't had a firework show since 2015.

It was a good day to celebrate our country.  We are so blessed to have the freedoms we do. I know that the hand of the Lord directed the founding of the United States. We each have a responsibility to help keep America great.

Waite Reunion Wallowa Lake Oregon 2019

We left on Wednesday, June 19th, to drive to Idaho Falls on our way to the Waite Reunion at Wallowa Lake, Oregon.  We stopped in Rexburg for Neil and the kids to do baptisms at the Rexburg Temple.  It was really windy while we were there.

We stayed with Karan and Jim in Iona. It was a great chance to get to visit especially since Karan wasn't going to the reunion. We stopped and got pizza and ice cream for dinner and enjoyed together. Neil and I went for a walk with Karan in the evening. It was wonderful to visit with her.

On Thursday we drove the rest of the way to Wallowa Lake. It was beautiful country.  It was great to see the Waite family members that were able to make it the reunion.  We had a great time together. It was a little cold and rainy, but we still had a good time. Friday was chilly enough that I didn't take my two jackets or gloves off all day.

We went on a hike to a waterfall. It was really pretty. It wasn't too hot, it was actually quite nice weather for hiking.  I really enjoyed the scenery and the hike.

When we got back from the hike we decided to go miniature golfing with Scott and Molly's family. It was lots of fun.  Aaron loved golfing. He got about 21 holes instead of 18 because he kept going back and doing his favorite hole again. It was a hole that went through a tunnel and came out another place. The first time he was really confused about where his ball was. It was really cute.

There lots of semi-tame deer in the campground. It was fun to see them.  The kids loved playing games in the evening. Red Rover was one of the favorites.  It was a wonderful reunion and campout, except the sleeping. It was a little cold and our tent was kind of on a down hill slope.
